DeltaWav is about Independent Christian Music. It was started in January of 2003 by Rick Cupoli. Rick was frustrated with how difficult it was to get radio stations to consider local artists for airplay. It was not a matter of how good the recording was but a matter of if the music was charted. In order to get the music charted it would have go through the standard commercial channels. When radio was young, talent was aired because it was good. Connections were not the rule. Rick believed that this approach was still needed today. To this end Rick founded DeltaWav.
After about a year Rick ran into Kevin Wyglad on one of the popular music boards. They started to communicate and the seeds of friendship were planted. Kevin was interested in the DeltaWav concept and expressed an interest in breaking DeltaWav ground in his town of Atlanta, Ga. A few months went by and an opportunity arose for Rick and Kevin to meet in person. The seeds of friendship blossomed and the DeltaWav team was born.
DeltaWav has a mission to put Indie music on the airwaves and to honor God in the process. We play just about all the styles and are open to all submissions. Unlike the commercial Christian radio scene where you are presented with one general style of music that is all engineered to sound the same, we endeavor to offer rich play list that will have lisenters wondering why they haven't heard this music before. You hear the music as the artist intended, undefiled by the commercial board room. We play Rock, Jazz, Contemporary, Gospel, Instrumentals and the like. You don't have to know us to get your music heard. If the recording is of good clear quality, if it has a good melody and it has good appeal - we will air it. In the process we even hope to make some new friendships.
